The movie "How to Get Out of the Dark." stars Anne Hathaway as the headstrong and vivacious psychic who falls in love with a fellow student (Kevin Costner). Their blissful relationship is quickly put on a halt, however, when the student is brutally killed in a car crash. Enraged, she immediately assumes her untimely death and starts work on a powerful book that will allow her to travel back in time and learn what she must have done to cause her untimely death. She goes about this task using only her intuition and what you as the viewer discover is that her intuition is more important than the tools that she uses to achieve her goals.
In this film we learn that Anne is able to use her psychic intuition to control a being which calls itself a Mystic Messenger. The being identifies itself as Eve and explains that it possesses the power of life and death. Using these two powers it desires to wreak havoc on earth and has been attempting to do so by unleashing a massive tidal wave. However, Anne's book stops the tidal wave from doing this. With this knowledge in her hands, Anne uses her knowledge to open a time portal which allows her to return to the past and prevent the catastrophic event from happening.
As you may have guessed, I'm a huge fan of Anne Hathaway and this movie was no different. I particularly like the scenes where she goes back in time and is able to learn the truth about how she got out of the box. This is the type of woman who would not let anything stand in her way to achieving her goals, even if it meant having to go back in time. The same attitude also comes into play when Anne gets the psychic reading that she needs to complete her book. She uses the information that is provided to her throughout the film to help her figure out how to get hourglass in mystic messenger.

In order for the book to do what it does, there are many other events that need to happen for it to work. The first of these is when Anne needs to get the mystical messenger back through time. She does this with a great deal of help from her assistant, played by Holly Leigh Cook.

Once they enter the future, they are confronted by some mystic forces that try to stop them from getting back to the present, but they manage to get there just in time. The three other recruits that were there with Anne are also there because they were impressed by her abilities as a messenger. As the book ends, it becomes apparent that there is a ceremony taking place on the vessel where Anne will be carrying the mystic tablet. Before the ceremony can start, there are several visions of the past presented to her in a book that is kept within the tablet. These events are recorded so that she can remember them and get back to the current time. In the end, her spirit comes back to the present, ready to take over the wheel and take her to the future.
I enjoyed reading about this book because of its interesting story and its colorful way of presenting the different events that were part of the mystery. I liked how the main characters were brought into the main plot in such a way that you wanted to know more about them. This is one book that should be required reading for all children, as it has many lessons that need to be learned. The illustrations in the book are excellent, bringing life to the scenes depicted. I recommend how to get hourglass in mystic messenger to anyone who likes books with fantasy elements, who likes historical fiction, who enjoys reading about the past and the myths of other cultures, and who enjoys thinking along an interesting plot.
